We Can Dream

Photo Details
Poster: Jeff Harrison  (see this users gallery)

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do simple 3D in Draw, where one could render objects based on live art?

Very nice, Jeff

Would liked to see the graphic "butterfly" in 3-D fashion. Perhaps several views at different angles. Mostly when I see a request like this, I see issues galore. Food for thought. Great idea, nonetheless.

I love it!

Wo Jeff...

The 3D look is really great but the look of the packaging...

Come on man...
Considering what you usually do...

You've done better, right?

I really don't want to sound like a prick though...
But honestly...I really think you can don much better
than just popping up a clipart centered on page...

Sorry about the drastict comment.
Usually, I really like what you do.
I really hope you take this comment constructively...

And yessssss....
It'd be great to have a 3D application in CorelDraw...
Like Adobe Illustrator does in the CS & CS2 versions!

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for the input - wow, you are harsh today! Don't worry, I can take it. :-) but... maybe delete one of your 2 same posts. Otherwise, I'm feeling twice as bad. :-)

Something is missing at your end though - the reason for this pic was not to try and be the most realistic package, or some great design. It was only to show how some of us in the Corel newsgroups were talking about a 3D plugin to extend the capabilities of Draw, likely for product packaging mockups.

Sooo...this was just a 12 minute pic, just to show how it would be nice to design live art on Draw's page inside a template, and have the plugin render it to an object like the above.

Here's an illus plugin to do this kind of thing:

http://www.hotdoor.com/foldup/index.php

I remember toying with it about 2 years ago with illus 10, but the trial kept crashing on me. So... that was useless.

Now that you know the intent of this pic was just to be a quickie to show what I was describing in the newsgroup post, that may change your rating and opinion of this pic.

It would be like you sketching a rough design for a sign, and the customer rejecting the whole order because the mock up isn't photo-realistic in 12 minutes. ;-)

How come you don't join us in the Draw newsgroups? You'd be very welcome and I think you'd enjoy the community.

Ok ok...

Sorry Jeff...Didn't mean to be harsh...
When I critic people's work, I ALWAYS intend it to be constructive.
I really like your idea though, for Corel 14...
For a 12 minute pic...I'll give it to ya...It's better than I thought.

What's this thing about newsgroups?
How'd'you do that? Where do I go for that?
Do I need a specific program for that?
I've heard a lot about newsgroups without
ever even knowing what they are!!
And... OF COURSE I'm interested in participating!

Hi Stephan,

Glad you now understand the intent of this pic... :-)

The Corel newsgroups are very cool, lots of tips being shared and just good daily reading for Corel fans like us. I'll help you get set up. What email prog do you use? Outlook or Thunderbird?

If you use Outlook, this may be all you need:

For OE, just double click on the links for each group you want to subscribe to (at prev link in this thread).

I'd suggest Coreldraw 12 AND X3, and also PP 12 AND X3. Or go for All Draw's and PP's on the page (that's what I do)

The groups should appear automatically in OE.

Also Thursday, former Minnesota mbt shoes Governor and Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty resigned as the co-chairman of The Financial Services Roundtable says it is non-partisan. He dropped out of the race last year after a poor finish in the Iowa straw poll, one of the first major gauges of a candidate's popularity. South Africa’s historically cheap mbt shoes low electricity prices have increased dramatically over For those in the restaurant business, it means lower profit margins, rising prices and layoffs. The lifeblood of a restaurant is in the kitchen. Inside that backroom, stoves are constantly burning, ovens baking mbt shoes for women and dishwashers cleaning. In terms of electricity, the meter is always spinning upward and costs are growing quickly. The price of electricity in Johannesburg has risen by an average of 27 percent each of the last four years. This year, Eskom - South Africa’s electric utility - raised prices by 16 percent. Similar increases mbt shoes clearance are expected annually over the next five years. We have made it clear that we will be applying for the above inflation But also we have to be in position to finance the very large new build program that we are in the middle of at the moment, said Hilary Joffe, the spokeswoman for Eskom. Eskom is building mbt shoes for cheap new power stations to try to meet rising demand as more and more poor South Africans get on the grid in the post-apartheid era. Slimming profits In Fordsburg, a primarily Pakistani and Indian neighborhood in Johannesburg, restaurateurs are dealing with these rising costs in women mbt saldals various ways. The entrance of Rashid Ebrahim’s bakery - in an old church building - is lined with displays of doughy, sweet pastries. In the back, his bakers slide trays in and out of ovens. But with rising energy costs, he’s had to make changes. I haven’t raised the prices as of yet, I’m just absorbing mbt kisumu sandals on my profit, taking a lesser profit, he said. The turnover is still the same, but the profit margins are lower. Those slimming margins have led him to cut his staff from 15 down to 10. I don’t feel that’s the right thing mbt shoes outlet do but it’s the only way to go if you want to really survive, he said. Ebrahim is now looking at raising prices on his goods 15 to 20 percent. Making money in the restaurant business isn’t always easy, especially for those just starting out, says Larry Hodes with The Restaurant Code, a consultancy discount mbt shoes firm in Johannesburg. Restaurant utility bills used to be about 2.5, 3 percent of expenses of sales as a percentage. Now suddenly you are looking at 4 to 5 percent. It’s quite crazy right now in terms of utility costs, he explained. Energy-saving tips There are some steps he’s advising mbt shoes for sale restaurants to take. Even this week I walked into a restaurant where, you know gas and electricity - the stoves are left on all the time, said Hodes. One of the key things, it sounds simple - but you know it comes from management - is that you have to train your staff how to more effectively and efficiently use mbt shoes clearance your gas and your electricity and everything. You know that is where possibly a restaurateur can have the biggest impact immediately. Eskom also has several programs to help ease the costs of electricity, including, Joffe says, some that subsidize pre-approved energy efficient products bought by businesses. If enterprises mbt sandals can show us that they have effective savings, we will compensate them for those, she said. She says Eskom is working with businesses across the country to upgrade equipment which will put less strain on the country’s energy supply. Really, the economics mbt shoes sandals of it work for us she said.CF
